Capturing the Moment
Draw on the fabulous ruined walled garden where chickens are free to range and the rustic historic grounds of Burlingham Hall to write poems celebrating the beauty of the moment. How often do we just drift along paying little attention to what is around us? Using simple exercises and exploring different forms we’ll draft some poems that catch what often slips past unnoticed, then work with Annette Rolston to combine these poems with visual images, creating unique cards and prints to take home. Printing on a portable press you will explore mono-stencil-printing, drypoint, stamping and collaging techniques to illustrate your own poems. Suitable for everyone, from beginners to those with some writing experience.
NOTE FROM CAROLINE
I’ve been working as a poet, novelist and writing tutor for ten years now. I’m still surprised and delighted to watch people exploring their creative potential – potential that’s often remained undisturbed for years while they pursue busy lives. Sometimes people come with a fear of poetry, instilled decades before by fierce school teachers. Yet within a few minutes they open up to the possibilities of poetry, and find it a pleasure – a gift. I have extensive experience of working with writers of all levels of experience. Some have never written creatively in their lives; others have devoted many years to their craft. In my experience everyone learns something, and leaves with food for thought to nourish them for months to come. Please join us.

NOTE FROM ANNETTE
I have a masters in Fine Art Printmaking and 18 years experience of teaching art and design and printmaking in further education and private and community workshops in East Anglia. I have an innovative approach to printmaking, I love to combine techniques and methods, use colour and pattern and combine with words/text in unusual ways. As well as regularly exhibiting in galleries and art centres, for the last 5 years, Caroline and I have worked together in Inprint, a collaborative group of artists and writers. We recently co-led a group of artists and writers to create a limited edition hand-made series of books based on the Paston Letters, now touring as an exhibition in the Norfolk/Suffolk region.
